Annie

"I object to the bridling of horses for man's content."

Five Furlong Annie

In the upcoming days, the equestrian world will have their eyes set on the "Run for the Roses" at the 134th running of the Kentucky Derby, followed quickly by the Preakness and the Belmont. The legendary Triple Crown winners of the past, were horses of magnificent character, talent and speed, but in order to get there, they first had to be bridled.

Distinctive Annie is one such mare. She began her life on the track, having had a bit of fame and accomplishment herself before finding her way to her current stable, named in her honour, in the wine country of central New York. Annie not only is the head of her herd, she also always leaves humans with something to remember.

We honour Annie this race season, and the undying spirit of all horses to run. We also hope horses everywhere meet with the respect they deserve, kindness from humans in place of exploitation, and a loving environment like Annie has been so fortunate to find her way to.
